Time to rest. 7/10/11 Sun: Today was the Summer Roundup Trail Run 12K. As such only 12 met in Manitou for a run. 7/7/11 Thur: Only 25 came out today with many resting up for the Weekend's Summer Roundup Trail Run 12K. 7/03/11 Sun: 32 ICers met at Memorial Park. Reports are still coming in from those that drove up. Bottom line, Pikes was crawling with runners. 6/30/11 Thur: The last run of June brought out 35 ICers. Today it was 30 mins 1 min on, 1 min off followed by 6 PI hill repeats. 6/26/11 Sun: 34 came out for a run from the bottom of the Peak today. We had to stay off the top because of the car race. 6/23/11 Thur: A few afternoon clouds made things a little cooler than they could have been for the 30 ICers who did a tempo run up the Barr Trail. 6 PI hill repeats finished the day. 6/19/11 Sun: At least 27 ICers were at the run today. 6/16/11 Thur: 29 runners today. Some were still in recovery mode from the GOG. Most did a a 30 minute tempo run up the Barr Trail. 6/12/11 Sun: 73 ICers either ran or worked the GOG today. Quite a few took home awards. 6/11/11 Sat: Because of the GOG10M there was a Saturday option this week. Since most are doing the GOG only 10 of us showed but it was a great day for running none the less. 6/9/11 Thur: 27 showed for what was a taper run for most. Those not running the GOG10M on Saturday did a 30 minute tempo run. The rest did 10 mins of 1 hard, 1 easy. 6/5/11 Sun: 40 showed for another perfect day on Pikes Peak. A couple of us bagged Rock Mtn on the way over from Longs Ranch Road to check out the great views. A few others made it to the summit for even better views. 6/2/11 Thur: An even 30 did 30 minutes of 1 minute hard, 1 minute easy. There was a lot of smoke in the air today and it was advised that if were feeling it to call it a day. 5/29/11 Sun: 37 either headed into the Garden of the Gods or up the Barr Trail. 5/26/11 Thur: At least 31 showed for a 30 minute tempo run up the Barr Trail. The trail was pretty darn dry today. 5/22/11 Sun: 44 ICers headed out UTE, up Longs Ranch Road, onto Bobs Road then up the Barr Trail to get to Barr Camp. It was an awesome day. 5/19/11 Thur: 23 snuck in a workout in between rain showers today. After 30 minutes of 1 minute hard, 1 minute easy up the Barr Trail the group ran back down and did some hill repeats. 5/15/11 Sun: A little rain/snow kept the group fairly small today at 29. But for those who made it up as high as Barr Camp we did manage to pop out above the clouds for a few minutes. A very few minutes. 5/12/11 Thur: 30 came out on a perfect day for a tempo run up the Barr Trail. The trail had some moisture which provided some traction. 30 minutes later we headed back down and did 5 PI hill repeats. 5/8/11 Sun: Between Collegiate Peaks, Greenland Trail Race and Mothers Day only 33 were left for the IC run. But we had a great run getting to Barr Camp via Ute, Longs Ranch Road and Bobs. 5/5/11 Thur: 31 ICers did 30 mins of 1 min hard, 1 minute easy and then followed it with 5 PI hill repeats 5/1/11 Sun: Winter came back! 47 had to run in some snow to get to Barr Camp today. But it was kind of fun actually. 4/28/11 Thur: A great afternoon brought out 37 ICers for a 30 minute tempo run up the Barr Trail. After that it was some repeats on the PI trail. 4/24/11 Sun: 42 showed for a Easter Day run. Winter showed it was not quite done with us but we popped out above the clouds before we got to No Name Creek. 4/31/11 Thur: 34 ICers did 30 minutes of 1 minute hard, 1 minute easy up the Barr Trail today. We followed that up with 4 30 second repeats on the Paul Intemann trail. 4/17/11 Sun: One of the larger groups in a while - 56 - came out on another perfect weather running day. Many are heading over to the GOG. Others are taking on the Barr Trail. All are getting fit. 4/14/11 Thur: 32 ICers met just above Hydro Street for a 30 minute tempo run up the Barr Trail. Then we headed over to the Paul Intemann trail for some short repeats. 4/10/11 Sun: 45 came out for a run in the mountains. Although it started a tad nippy it warmed up nicely. Still lots of wind however. 4/7/11 Thur: And just like that the hard workouts have begun. A perfect day for hurting brought out 31 runners for 30 minutes of 1 minute hard, 1 minute easy. We followed that up with 4 hill repeats. 4/3/11 Sun: A very nice day with temps in the 60 brought out an even 50 runners today which was our largest group in a while! But it looks like mother nature has something in mind for later in the afternoon. 3/27/11 Sun: Some Fog and drizzle kept a few home today with only 31 showing for the run. 3/20/11 Sun: 39 came out for the run and layers of cloathes were clothes peeled away. No snow/ice all the way to No Name. 3/13/11 Sun: 35 showed for the IC run today. And there was hints that Spring is on its way. This has been one warm winter! 3/6/11 Sun: At least 47 came out for today's run up the Barr Trail. Not too hard to get to No Name without touching snow or ice. But it is early to count on that staying the same. 2/27/11 Sun: Many of the 42 who showed today were wearing shorts. Oddly, we could use a little winter around here because it is getting so dry. But it was a great day for running! 2/20/11 Sun: 49 came out for a run up to Barr Camp. Once again for February the weather was not too bad. 2/13/11 Sun: 44 showed for a February day that was so nice we followed the run up with a FeedBag. Nothing like a sugary doughnut after a run! 2/6/11 Sun: Super Bowl Sunday brought out a super small group of only 37 ICers. That is the smallest in recent memory. But those that showed came to run and run we did. 1/30/11 Sun: 49 showed for a Double or some portion thereof. The air was crisp but the sun was nice to us and it was a great day for running. 1/23/11 Sun: 67 ICers came out for a cold trip up to Barr Camp and back. Because of ice issues on lower Barr Trail some opted for Rampart or the Garden. 1/15-16/11 Sat/Sun: This week ICers had a rare Saturday option for the club "*" - all or part of the Fat Ass 50K. The middle of the course was very similar to our standard Double route. However, it was nice to learn some new trails getting up to Rampart Range Road. The weather was perfect. For those that did not do that Sunday was our regular Double. Between the two options 65 ICers got signed in. 1/9/11 Sun: 70 showed for our first trip up to Barr Camp of the new season. There was a lot more dirt than was expected and the trail was well packed. Did I mention it was cold? 1/2/11 Sun: Perhaps because at 8am it was a bitter 12 degrees only 55 showed for the first club run of the new year. And what a run it was - The Double! After a little pep talk we headed off on a sufferfest. The snow had a certain sand-like quality which while kind to the joints was hell on ligaments, tendons and muscles because our feet slipped in every which direction. Many a slow PR was set today but that is just the way it goes after a serious snow storm. But at least it warmed up and by the time we were done the temperature was all the way up to 44. 12/26/10 Sun: Another day that started out cold. Another day that ended up warm. This has been one strange winter so far. 61 ICers came out for a great run around Waldo. 12/19/10 Sun: 81 ICers came out for our 2nd run up Longs Ranch Road. It started out rather cold at 21 but by the end of the run it was pretty nice. A little snow on the ground made Baby Bear Hill a little interesting but beyond that it was not too bad. 12/12/10 Sun: A little cold did not stop 70 from showing up for another trip around Waldo. And the further we went the warmer it got. Indeed, for December this was another awesome day to run. 12/5/10 Sun: 81 ICers showed for the first run up Longs Ranch Road of the new season. Part way up Longs we ran into some snow but nothing that got in the way or slowed us down. It was in the twenties but the hills quickly warmed us up. 11/28/10 Sun: 115 got signed and another 3 came late for a total of 118 for the first run of the 2011 season. A great turnout on a great day! After a group photo we headed off to go find Waldo. Someone has been thinning the trees on the UPT but that means the road is in pretty good shape and lower Longs Ranch Road is in as good as shape as I have ever seen it. Someone was also nice enough to put a new blue sign on the far switchback in Waldo which should keep people from missing that turn. Beyond that things are pretty much as we left them except I for one forgot what an ice box Ruxton at 8 in the morning. After the run we had a feedbag where everyone brought enough food for themselves and 2 others. YUM! Finally, in the trivia department, yesterday the Springs set a record for going the longest into the year without snow. As luck would have it the streak was not broken until about 10 hours AFTER our run :-) 11/24/10 Wed: Another e-mail was sent out announcing the first club run of the 2011 season on November 28th. 11/17/10 Wed: An e-mail was sent out today announcing the start of the 2011 season our 15th. |
