Sent: Saturday, March 14, 1998 2:12 PM Subject: Long Run #17 Reminder The Ute loop is tomorrow (Sunday) at 8am. Come on out last week there were 18 and 1/2 who showed! See you there! Go out hard, when it hurts speed up... Matt http://www.skyrunner.com Incline Club page http://www.skyrunner.com/incline.htm ************* >From Kevin Caffey I was back on the Barr for 80 minutes yesterday staying low so as to avoid snow and ice since my knee has little lateral stability. It sure was nice to be off the treadmill and back on the trails! I saw Kevin A. and Keith they said you had quite a lot of folks run yesterday! I just got my Pikes Peak Pass in the mail #36. ************* WWW post 2/15/98 18 and 1/2 today our second largest group! The snow got very deep and I for one spent a great deal of time on the ground on the section from Mount Manitou over to the Barr Trail. At one point the snow was so deep that when I broke through a 2" layer of crust on the top bruised my quad! Barr trail was in great shape however so it made up for it. Larry T has been recruiting new people and today he brought five of them with him. The story of the day is/will be if Kevin A has/had to do another loop to find has dog, Ajax. ************* >From Kevin Ash I only had to run up to the gate before the first switchback to find him. He ran the whole thing with Glen, Keith, etc. Fortunate for me, as it was going to be a painful second loop.... ************* >From Thom Santa Maria Hey Matt and fellow incline club runners. I got back from Florida and have recovered from the trip. Luckily all the bad weather missed us, but it did get close. I plan on be back on the trail with you guys on the 15th. I did race in Florida, it feels good to run at sea level. It was a little 5K in conjunction with this conference I was attending. About 300 runners. I finished first in 15:57. Felt great and ran comfortably. Second was just under 17:00. We spent this past weekend in Denver. So I didnt get to run here. Well, see ya in a week. ************* >From Carol Sauceda Just wanted to let you know I have not fallen off the face of the earth, but I have been sick. Plan to rejoin the group fun this coming Sunday. I did race the 20K (WS#4), and had a great race. I really improved throughout the entire series, getting stronger as the races got longer. I KNOW those long runs are indeed contributing to the improvements in my running ! Cant wait to see you all Sunday. ************* >From Matt VonThun I would like to submit my run last weekend (two now) as the least inclined run of the week. Fifteen miles on a bike path in Key Largo which varied in elevation by less than a foot. On another day while in the everglades I did get my altitude training in by going over Coral Ridge Pass elevation 3 ft. ************* Pikes Peak Passes (let me know when you get one or when you know your #) Kevin # 1 Matt C # 2 Terrie # 3 Matt V # 4 Keith # 11 Larry T # 13 Carol # 19 Cindy # 20 Glen # 24 Kevin C #36 ************** Misc. Stats (Last week we passed up the number of people from our Thursday Incline run) 36 different people and 2 dogs have come to the Sunday long runs. 35 different people have run up the Incline as a Thursday club workout. 49 people are on the e-mailing list.
