Sent: Wednesday, April 29, 1998 3:28 PM Subject: Incline V2 TH #4 LR #24 Tomorrow, Thursday, April 30 we start our 3 workout cycle over again with a tempo run from Hydro Street to No Name Creek or 30 minutes which ever comes first. Be at Hydro Street ready to go at 5:30. Hopefully we will all get farther than 3 weeks ago. This Sunday, May 3, we will be doing the COG loop again unless of course we get another major snowstorm in which case it will be the Barr Camp up/back. With any luck the snow will be melted off of the COG itself since they have been running the train for some time now. This means that we will begin running that COG section as another tempo run. Also, this may be our first encounter with the COG train itself. Be looking for it and when you see it GET OFF THE TRACKS!!! No joke here act like they will kill you if they see you (they will not) and move off into the trees. Do not run until they get close and then get off the tracks be pro active and just use it as an excuse to take a break:-) Speaking of encounters... I was running with Incline Club member Paul Dewitt in the GOG today when he causally (like this man was laid-back-cool-type casual) did a little hop and said snake. Well I got to see my FIRST rattlesnake today and it must have been 24 feet I mean inches long! Paul said to just jump over it but I took a little (20 feet or so;-) detour and went around it. A couple hundred feet later Paul decides we should move it off the trail so another runner does not step on it. However, when we ran back to where it was it had already done us the favor. I was kinda bummed I wanted to hear it do the tail thing. Also, I never saw someone get bit so I thought Paul would do me that favor;-) I was scared anyway he thought it made for a more exciting run!? For those that do not know, I started two more charts on the Incline Page (http://www.skyrunner.com/incline.htm) One for Thursday runs, and another for Incline times. I thought it would be fun track all the times this year so we can watch people get better over the year. Finally, the groups are getting large 45 different people have come to a long run and we had 18 at last Thursdays Incline run and I am having trouble remembering names etc. If you come to a workout and you do not get your * or your time for an Incline run please just zip me an e-mail. Slowly (thank goodness I run better than I remember) I will learn more names but I think what happens is after I meet someone we do a workout where I proceed to kill off a few more brain cells and I seem to always draw a blank the following week. Gets kinda embarrassing calling people the wrong name but no one has shot me yet:-O Go out hard, when it hurts speed up... Matt Carpenter http://www.skyrunner.com
