This Thursday the 11th, is the 30 minute tempo run from Hydro Street. Meet
at the fountain by Spring Street at 5:30pm.

This Sunday the 14th at 8am, is up the Barr trail as far as you think is
good for you. Last week some did the Ute loop but a lot of people went to
Barr Camp, some went to the Bottomless Pit sign, 1 went to the A-frame and 3
went to the top. The top is not that bad done as a b-line power hike from
the A-frame but the COG is pretty much full now so we do have to hitch a
ride off of the top. It only took us 1 min 4 seconds to get a ride. Also we
are getting close to being able to start using our peak passes on Elk Park
based on the reports I am getting — hang in there and see how high you can
get on the Barr Trail for now.

>From club member Gary H,

I’m a member of the Pikes Peak Group of the Colorado Mountain Club.
Each year, our chapter volunteers to do some fix-up work on the A-Frame
shelter at timberline above Barr Camp. Since we all run by there (or
will be doing so soon), I thought some of the Incline Club members might
be interested in helping with this project. We can use volunteers to
provide labor (fixing roof shingles, painting, etc.), help carrying
tools or supplies to/from the A-Frame, help assessing what work needs to
be done (little labor involved there!), etc. If anyone is interested in
helping out with this, please contact me at (e-mail address removed for www posting) for
specifics. Thanks! — Gary Hellenga

Tonight (Tuesday the 9th) from 7 to 9pm at the down-town YMCA the Celebrate
Pikes Peak people are putting on a panel discussion on the “How to’s of
hiking & running on Barr Trail.” I will be on the panel along with Dan
Cleveland of the Trails & Open Space Coalition, Frank Landis of the Forest
Service and Sally Meadows of Meadows Mountain Walks. Come on out and ask ?s
that only I can answer;-)

The club e-mailing list is already back up to 44 because about 6 of the
purged people sent in trails. We also got a couple of new people on the
list. I still have not ranked the trails but will get around to it one of
these first days.
