Incline Club V3 LR #1

Subject: Incline Club V3 LR #1

Shake the dust off the shoes and get ready to run — its base building time
again. Speaking for myself I have had a great off season and toped out 11
pounds heavier than my on season average! I still have Thanksgiving dinner
to go so there is still hope for a post high school weight PR:-)

This Sunday, the 29th, at 8 a.m. will be the first club run of the new
season. We will start out on the Ute Indian trail. When we get to Bob’s
road — where we usually turn left and up — turn RIGHT and head DOWN for
about a half of a mile. Look both ways and cross hwy 24 and then run the
Waldo Canyon loop clockwise. Look both ways and cross back over hwy 24 and
head back the way we got there. This should take about 2:10 for some and
right at 3 hours for others. This is a first for this loop and unless
someone forgets to look both ways before they cross the highway it should be
a great run. Back when we did the survey of favorite trails Waldo was one of
the top 3.

We will meet in the parking lot next to the Incline. The COG is closed so
like every winter we should have no problem parking in those spaces. This is
not a Thursday handicap run so we all start at the same time. Again the run
starts at 8 a.m. so be warmed up and ready to go. None of us likes to be
cold so if you are late have fun catching up because we will not wait!!!

####

I know that some of you have Sunday commitments and all. Please don’t feel
that you have to tell me that you are not going to make it or whatever. This
club does not require RSVPs! However, if the interest is there I am
considering starting a Saturday group. If you CAN’T do the Sunday runs but
WOULD come to Saturday runs please let me know. If I get 10 people
or more responding I will send out another e-mail to the group. Again I
would like to hear from ONLY those who CAN’T make Sunday runs but WOULD do
Saturday runs. If you want to do both — great — but please don’t trade
Sunday for Saturday. I really want a big group on Sunday so that there is a
better chance of having someone to run with at each ability level.

####

The e-mailing list has grown to over 80 people and a large number of people
claim that they are going to show — we shall see. More alarming is the
number of people saying they are out of shape and/or slow and will work to
get in shape before coming out. It does NOT work that way! It is way better
to come out now and suffer a bit with the rest of us than it is to wait a
month or two while the rest of us work together to get even further ahead of
you. This is an all abilities club — come out and work with someone at your
level!

####

Some of you may know of people who have run with us who do not have e-mail.
Please take the time to let them know about this Sunday. Also if you know of
any CRAZY runners who have not run with us try to talk them into it! The
more we get the better it will be:-)

####

Remember that while we are an all abilities club we don’t need wimps and
whiners. These are hard runs already but sometimes the snow gets deep, the
wind blows hard and the temperature gets ugly. Sometimes only a few make it
through a run without falling. We had 21 falls in one icy run alone last
year! This is bad enough, we don’t need to make it worse by having those
that can’t cope with adversity telling us we are stupid. Besides, we already
know that;-)

####

If you have any questions about anything please read over the club FAQ at
http://www.skyrunner.com/incline_faq.htm. If you still have questions don’t
hesitate to send them my way.

####

Throughout the year I will say that this or that is the most important part
of a running program. A good base is at the top of a list. Come out and
build your base!!

####

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours,

Go out hard, when it hurts speed up...
