Subject: Incline Club V3 LR #8

This Sunday the 17th for long run #8 we will be running up to Barr Camp and
then part way out the Elk Park Trail and back. Meet at 8 a.m. by the COG
depot.

Don’t forget that Barr Camp sells candy bars:-)

Just to clear up any confusion people may be having.

1) We all leave at 8:00a.m. on these runs. They are not handicapped. The
purpose of this is so that the chances of having someone at your ability to
run with increases if we all leave together. If the slower runners start
taking off early they will NEVER have anyone to run with — unless you
consider being passed by the faster runners being “with” somebody. Even if a
group got together and left early (something that was tried last year) this
would still leave new runners without people to run with and can be very
discouraging.

2) The goal of this month is to run from 2h30 to 3h30 depending on your
ability. Although slower runners SHOULD be on their feet longer I do not
think they should be out there all day either! If the whole loop (like last
week’s) would take you 4 or 5 hours I recommend not doing the whole loop.
Many have figured this out and just did the Waldo portion of the run. This
is great! I believe going too many hours at this point in the season could
do more harm than good. However, if you finish under 2h30 try to run some
extra so that next month’s increase does not take you by surprise.

I have a brand spanking new pair of women’s adidas size 6.5 which usually
fit me. However, they are more like size 7. Do you know any women in
the Incline Club with a 7 foot? I will give them to whoever they fit. Let me
know: (e-mail address removed for www posting)

I put up a new game on my site today. The first person from the club to
submit the correct answer gets a Fila T-shirt. It should work for the later
versions of either of the more popular browsers.

standard Waldo loop and added onto it by running up Longs Ranch Road
afterward. This section was a bear after having already run 10 plus miles
and overall everyone was in agreement that this was our toughest long run to
date. Nine of us met for breakfast after the run.
