Its killer loop time again:-))))))))

This Sunday, January 24th at 8 a.m. meet by the Incline.
Head out the Ute Indian Trail and then do the Waldo loop. Then
continue UP Longs Ranch Road until you meet up with the Barr Trail
at No Name Ice Creek. Run down the Barr Trail back to the parking area.
2h30 to 3h30 depending on speed.

This loop fried some people last time. Be careful!!! I recommend newbies do
just the Waldo portion until you get comfortable with that. Most of us had 5
or 6 long runs under our belts before we did this sicko loop.

6 people are 1/3 of the way to Glen A’s record of 24 long runs in a row!
Also 2 dogs have come to all eight runs.

Thanks for posting the information from the mtn club regarding Joe
Simpson’s “touching the void.” Went up for the Fri night lecture. Was
very good. Had read the book a couple of years ago. Pretty unassuming
looking guy but has lots of heavy duty stuff in his background.

I was looking for info. on the Pikes Peak Marathon when I saw the
Fahrenheit scale. Being a Minnesotan I got a chuckle out of it. When it
gets cold we just fill our water bottles with hot chocolate and hit the
trails. Another tip, to do altitude training in Minnesota we run with
plastic bags over our heads — don’t get the twist tie too tight!

Kevin A remains the only one to solve the Incline Club Mosaic.
www.skyrunner.com/game/mosaic_intro.htm. He, as I mentioned, will be getting
a Fila T-Shirt. I am not posting the answer because — well where is the
fun in that?

Some of you have been writing saying “where is the club reminder?” It turns
out that some of your places of work may delay “outside” mail a couple of
days. In fact one person’s workplace usually takes 4 days for outside mail
to reach them. There is nothing I can do about this. Remember however at the
bottom of these reminders is a link to the www version of this letter. If
you feel that perhaps the e-mail version did not get delivered just look for
the link at the bottom of an old mail. What’s that you say? You don’t keep
these in a special folder called “the reason I live.” Well then just head to
http://www.skyrunner.com and find the Incline club page and look for the e-mail
there.

WWW post:
1/17/99 29 people and 4 dogs got snowed on today. A light dusting of snow
served to cover up the ice so that you never knew if you next step would be
your last. Many had to literally crawl over the ice at No Name Creek and
Barr Camp. Heading out Elk Park the wind and snow kicked up and made it all
the more fun. Bonnie M, Cindy O and Dan V all reported stellar crashes.
Cindy however had to be different — she was knocked down after running head
first into the rock arch. After the run we tied the club record with 15
people showing for breakfast.

Club records:
# of dogs on a run: 6
# of people to show for breakfast: 15
# of people on the Incline: 21
# of long runs in a row — Glen Ash: 24
# of people on a Thursday: 27
# of people at a party: 30
# of people on a Sunday: 35
# of members in a race — Pikes Peak A & M: 44
# on e-mailing list: 94
