This Sunday, February 7th at 8 a.m. meet by the Incline.
Head out the Ute Indian Trail and then do the Waldo loop. Then continue UP
Longs Ranch Road until you meet up with the Barr Trail at No Name Ice Creek.
Run down the Barr Trail back to the parking area. 2h30 to 3h30 depending on
speed.

Despite the snow, more people than normal made the whole loop last time!
Way to go! Pacing is everything on this one.

Its true, its true. February 14th we are planning an Incline fourpeat.
16,000 feet of up and down should be a real treat! Only a **lot** of new
snow will save us from certain pain and suffering at the hands of our
namesake. What better way to spend the first few hours of Valentines day?
The goal: After doing this run we should hear no more complaining about the
Ute/Waldo/Longs/Barr run:-)

****
And then there were 5... Five still alive in the hunt for Glen A’s long run
streak club record of 24.

Do you or anyone else in the club know of a decent personal “log”
s/w program for tracking runs, charting progress, miles, etc. I have used
UltraCoach for a couple of years on and off, but I do not particularly care
for it. Email: (e-mail address removed for www posting)

Best joke (g-rated) sent to me by an Incline Club member:

Steven Spielberg was discussing his new project — an action
docu-drama about famous composers starring top movie stars
Sylvester Stallone, Steven Segal, Bruce Willis, and Arnold
Schwarzenegger were all present.

Spielberg strongly desired the box office ‘oomph’ of these
superstars, so he was prepared to allow them to select whatever
composers they would portray, as long as they were very famous.

“Well,” started Stallone, “I’ve always admired Mozart. I would
love to play him.”

“Chopin has always been my favorite, and my image would
improve if people saw me playing the piano” said Willis. “I’ll
play him.”

“I’ve always been partial to Strauss and his waltzes,” said Segal.
“I’d like to play him.”

Spielberg was very pleased with these choices. “Sounds
splendid.” Then, looking at Schwarzenegger, he asked, “Who
do you want to be, Arnold?”

So Arnold says, (see the very end of this e-mail)

Well at least they try. Read it for yourself but let it be known that they
got more errors in those few paragraphs than frogs have warts. Most
interesting was that they contacted me because they did not believe a club
member who told them the Incline was 68% yet they did not fact check
anything else. Or if they did they still got it wrong. Example:

Matt,
Just checking on the club slogan.
“Pain is good, more pain is even better.”
Is that correct?

Pain is good. Extreme pain is extremely good.

The big sorry goes to Kevin A. for it was his slogan they messed up. On the
bright side I am sure Cindy O likes the error they made on her Pikes Peak
Ascent time:-) Go Cindy!!! Make it so!!! Those involved with the nomination
and who talked to RW tell me they avoided the word “coach” like the plague.
I give out advice to those that ask and that is the extent of it. Yet
somehow at a time when we had a PR of 30 runners, RW came up with the line
“coaches 100 runners.” Whatever...

Bottom line it is still a great honor and again thanks to all of you that
have ever run with the club. You make some rather nasty runs fun. To
those that haven’t run with us yet, come out now and build your winter base!
However, I would not advise making the February 14th run your first run with
the club;-)

www post:
1/31/99 25 humans and 5 K9s ran up toward Barr Camp. Many then went out to
the clearing on Elk Park Trail. The deep snow on this section made for some
slow going — and some wrong turns — but at least it covered the ice so there
were no major falls to report today. Cindy O took over the top spot on the
workout board. 8 met for breakfast after the run.

Club records:
# of dogs on a run: 6
# of people to show for breakfast: 15
# of people on the Incline: 21
# of long runs in a row — Glen Ash: 24
# of people on a Thursday: 27
# of people at a party: 30
# of people on a Sunday: 35
# of members in a race — Pikes Peak A & M: 44
# on e-mailing list: 99
