Sent: Friday, February 19, 1999 9:52 AM Subject: Incline Club V3 LR #13 PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE!!!! I got to see something two weeks ago during the Waldo Canyon run that took some of the fun out of the concept of club runs. I saw one of our runners come very close to getting hit by a car while crossing HWY 24 coming from the Waldo Canyon loop. We should not have this problem if we just follow this simple rule: Do NOT cross the HWY right after you finish the Waldo Canyon part of the run. Instead run up the Waldo parking lot until you are even with the service road and then go STRAIGHT across the HWY. By doing this you will have a much longer line of site!!! If you cut across as soon as you get off Waldo you may see NO car but 3 seconds later one can be right on top of you when they come flying around the curve! Remember, a few extra seconds added to your run could save some unsuspecting motorist a bloody inconvenience on their way to church. OK, YOU DONT NEED TO READ ANYTHING ELSE!!!! **** This Sunday, February 21st at 8 a.m. meet by the Incline. Head out the Ute Indian Trail and then do the Waldo loop. Then continue UP Longs Ranch Road until you meet up with the Barr Trail at No Name Ice Creek. Run down the Barr Trail back to the parking area. 2h30 to 3h30 depending on speed. **** For those that did the Incline at least once last week please check to make sure I got the # of times you did it correct on the www site. By my count 23 of the 31 people who came out did at least one trip up the Incline! It was a perfect day for it and half the fun was just sitting around afterwards telling war stories:-) **** www post: 2/14/99 31 humans and 6 K9s came out for another perfect summer day in February. The goal was a fourpeat on the Incline and five people succeeded Cindy O, Jim A, Mariko S, Matt C, and Todd B. Five more did threepeats Chris B, Mike L, Mike S, Neal T and Teresa T. Seven people did the double with six more making at least one trip. Everyone else ran up the Barr Trail wanting no part of the Incline sickness. This was one of the neatest running days I have had in a long time because we were all over the Incline cheering each other on. We set up an aid station and it was well stocked with drinks and junk food:-P There were also about 40 other people hiking the Incline and taking advantage of the great weather. At some points it looked like a line of ants crawling up a big ant hill. We tied the club dog record with 6 dogs, 5 of which did an Incline double. However with 23 people doing at least one trip up the Incline we broke the old club record of 21! Club records: # of dogs on a run: 6 # of people to show for breakfast: 15 # of people on the Incline: 23 # of long runs in a row Glen Ash: 24 # of people on a Thursday: 27 # of people at a party: 30 # of people on a Sunday: 35 # of members in a race Pikes Peak A & M: 44 # on e-mailing list: 105 Incline Club Page: http://www.skyrunner.com/incline.htm Incline Club FAQ: http://www.skyrunner.com/incline_faq.htm Incline Club Mosaic Game: http://www.skyrunner.com/game/mosaic_intro.htm This e-mail: http://www.skyrunner.com/incline_mail.htm **** Go out hard, when it hurts speed up...
