Run back down and then do four to six Hydro Street hill repeats. Sunday, May 16th 8 a.m. meet by the Fountain on Spring Street 1/4 mile down Ruxton from the COG RR depot. At least the Waldo loop. The rest depends on the snow conditions. Several of us have had good runs going up to the Cave of the Winds parking lot and several others have been heading over to the Garden of the Gods. **** I want to thank the six people who came out last Saturday to help with the Barr Trail re-vegetation project; Glen A, Louise E, Ramsay R, Timothy E, Tony E and Yvonne F. About 15 volunteers of the Friends of the Peak planted 120 trees, shrubs and plants. Hauling the water for them turned out to be a lot harder than I thought it would be because so few people came out to help they wanted 1 gallon of water for each plant. I would still like to encourage everyone else to help the Friends of the Peak by becoming a member for only $10. The money helps buy the plants as well as help with other projects they do on Pikes Peak. Once again to avoid the really deep snow some of us ran up and over to the Cave of the Winds after running up to No Name Creek. A few crazies even came back down through Williams Canyon which was washed out by the recent floods. Kelly M and Dan V managed to keep their feet dry but not me:-) 5/8/1999 Seven of us helped the Friends of the Peak with their Barr Trail re-vegetation project. We carried about 100 gallons of water to different spots along the first 10 switch-backs. After about 3 hours in the heat we went and got some cookies that the FOTP gave us for helping out. I for one was dead dog tired after this. Trying to run with 1 gallon of water (8 pounds each) in each hand makes for some great resistance running but it did not take very many trips to reduce me to a walk. Ramsay R did one trip with 3 gallons in each hand - that is about 50 lbs!!! 5/6/99 20 people took on the Incline today. All 11 of the people who did it last month set PRs this month!!! John R was the first to the top with a 2:34 PR. Two oldbies took the top PR spots with Robert R taking off 3:32 and Nick B taking off 2:42. They did not get first to the top because of their handicap placements; Nick because it was his first time this year had to run from a spot faster than his PR and Robert because he starts with the 35+ minute group. 4 people set all time PRs; Linda R, Robert R, Nick B and Louise E. **** Club records: # of dogs on a run: 7 # of Thursdays in a row Rick Hessek: 20 # of people on the Incline: 23 # of Sundays in a row Glen Ash, Matt Carpenter, Rick Hessek: 24 (on going) # of people to show for breakfast: 25 # of people on a Thursday: 27 # of club runs in a row Matt Carpenter, Rick Hessek: 29 (on going) # of people at a party: 30 # of people on a Sunday: 39 # of members in a race Pikes Peak A & M: 44 # on e-mailing list: 122 Incline Club Page: http://www.skyrunner.com/incline.htm Incline Club FAQ: http://www.skyrunner.com/incline_faq.htm Incline Club Mosaic Game: http://www.skyrunner.com/game/mosaic_intro.htm This e-mail: http://www.skyrunner.com/incline_mail.htm Go out hard, when it hurts speed up...
