Sent: Wednesday, May 26, 1999 3:12 PM Subject: Incline Club V3 TH #8 LR #27 Well I am running late again with this but at least it is coming the day before instead of the day of the workout:-) **** Thursday, May 27th 5:30 p.m. meet by the Fountain on Spring Street 1/4 mile down Ruxton from the COG RR depot. 30 minutes of 1 minute hard, 1 minute easy from Hydro Street up the Barr Trail. Run back down and then do four to six Hydro Street hill repeats. Note: I have received lots of positive feedback on the new protocol for this workout which is running back down the trail a little during the easy minutes. We will do this for now on for this workout. Sunday, May 30th 8 a.m. meet by the Fountain on Spring Street 1/4 mile down Ruxton from the COG RR depot. Go out the Ute Indian Trail and at the T take a right down the service road. Look both ways and cross Hwy 24 and then run the Waldo Canyon loop clockwise. Look both ways and cross back over the highway and head up Longs Ranch Road until you meet up with the Barr Trail at No Name Creek. Run down the Barr Trail back to the parking area. 3 to 4 hours depending on speed. **** WWW post: 5/23/1999 32 people and a dog headed up the Barr Trail in an awesome fog. We popped out above the clouds just above Barr Camp. There was no snow getting to Barr Camp. From Barr Camp to the Bottomless Pit sign the snow was only patchy and presented no real problem. The first of the 15 switch-backs (the long one) from there to the A-frame had a few bad sections and from #2 on it was hard going. John R, Rick H and I forged our way to the A-frame. We had to break trail on 6 switch-backs that people had been cutting when they could not find the trail because of the snow. Hopefully now that the real trail has been found more people will go the correct way. However, if as much snow melts in the next week as has melted in the last week it will not be an issue. 5/20/1999 14 people did a 30 minute tempo run up the Barr Trail starting at Hydro Street. The weather was great and the trail was slightly damp several people had some really good runs. **** Club records: # of dogs on a run: 7 # of Thursdays in a row Rick Hessek: 20 # of people on the Incline: 23 # of people to show for breakfast: 25 # of Sundays in a row Matt Carpenter, Rick Hessek: 26 (on going) # of people on a Thursday: 27 # of people at a party: 30 # of club runs in a row Matt Carpenter, Rick Hessek: 33 (on going) # of people on a Sunday: 39 # of members in a race Pikes Peak A & M: 44 # on e-mailing list: 122 Incline Club Page: http://www.skyrunner.com/incline.htm Incline Club FAQ: http://www.skyrunner.com/incline_faq.htm Incline Club Mosaic Game: http://www.skyrunner.com/game/mosaic_intro.htm This e-mail: http://www.skyrunner.com/incline_mail.htm **** Go out hard, when it hurts speed up...
