Sent: Thursday, June 24, 1999 8:49 AM Subject: Incline Club V3 TH #12 LR #31 The club got some great press today in the Out There section of the Gazette. http://www.gazette.com/life/out/out.html (has the photos there too!!!) I hope the coverage will bring out some more people club member Todd Burgess did a super job I feel at portraying the club. What Todd did not say was that after he did the 4peat with us he came back another day and did a 6peat!!!!!!!!!! On the other hand, I am also sure this story will serve as the impetus for the COG to post the Incline as the sidebar article stated. There will be those that will blame the club I am sure. But it is important to remember that the COG has been singing this song for a very long time. In fact the major use of the Incline started soon after an article in the Gazette saying not to use it appeared back in late 1996. It was going to be posted with or without this article on the club. Hopefully we can work together to find a solution. If not, the Incline Club can live without the Incline. Anyone care for a 5peat of Waldo;-) **** I am in the process of catching up on the workout boards from the days I missed while in New Hampshire. I want to thank Rick Hessek for his continued support and the time he took to put together trail and attendance reports for the days I was gone. **** On that note, because I missed a couple of days Rick managed to set two new club records for number of club runs in a row (41) and Sundays in a row (30)! People often ask why he has improved so much --> consistency and dedication. **** Thursday, June 24th 5:30 p.m. meet by the Fountain on Spring Street 1/4 mile down Ruxton from the COG RR depot. 30 minutes of 1 minute hard, 1 minute easy from Hydro Street up the Barr Trail. Run back down and then do four to six Hydro Street hill repeats. Sunday, June 27th 8 a.m. meet by the Fountain on Spring Street 1/4 mile down Ruxton from the COG RR depot. The run(s) will be decided when we meet. We are in a transition period as people are trying to get higher and higher on the mountain. As of Tuesday there were a few sections of snow on the top of the mountain that would be a bit much for a group run. However I think by Sunday they will pose no real problem. **** Go out hard, when it hurts speed up... Matt Carpenter www.skyrunner.com
