It was pretty neat to see that many people doing Hydro Street hill repeats after the main workout! **** As of yet I have received no information on the Sunday long run I missed while I was in Telluride doing a race. Please let me know if you showed up and if you could also list anyone else who showed that you can remember. **** This Sunday is the last Sunday I would recommend doing a bottom to top run on the peak and then ONLY if you have been doing fairly high mileage (weekly not just Sundays). Even then you should do this run fairly easy!!! DONT leave your race in your training. While there is still some hard training to be done I do not think you should be doing hard long runs at this late date. I recommend NOT looking at your watch and trying to run a constant effort from the start line. Take splits using your lap timer (again without looking) at the well known points along course so that you can get a feel of how your race should go vs the pace calculator on my site http://www.skyrunner.com/pace.htm . Then use the calculator to come up with your goal race splits taking into consideration how your constant effort run went. Also try NOT to drink water anywhere on the course other than where the aid stations will be. This will get your body used to the exact conditions of the race. Of course this does not apply if you will be carrying water in the race. Further this is a great time to practice with your foods, energy supplies, shoes, socks, clothes EVERYTHING!!! Also to help simulate race day conditions a group of us will be leaving from the start at 7:00a.m. Again if you have not been doing some serious training I would stick with Elk Park running from the bottom has the potential to do more harm than good! **** Thursday, July 29th, 5:30 p.m. park by the Fountain on Spring Street 1/4 mile down Ruxton from the COG RR depot. The Incline - using handicaps. Run back down the Barr Trail and then do four to six Hydro Street hill repeats. Sunday, August 1, 7 a.m. meet at the toll booth on the Pikes Peak Highway. After getting through the toll booth park cars and car pool to the Elk Park Trail Head. Run to Barr Camp and then the top. Hitch a ride back to the cars. Or run from the race start line leaving at 7.am. **** Club records: # of dogs on a run: 7 # of Thursdays in a row Rick Hessek: 20 # of people on the Incline: 23 # of people to show for breakfast: 25 # of people on a Thursday: 29 # of Sundays in a row Rick Hessek: 30 # of people at a party: 30 # of people on a Sunday: 39 # of club runs in a row Rick Hessek: 42 # of members in a race Pikes Peak A & M: 44 # on e-mailing list: 137 Incline Club Page: http://www.skyrunner.com/incline.htm Incline Club FAQ: http://www.skyrunner.com/incline_faq.htm Incline Club Mosaic Game: http://www.skyrunner.com/game/mosaic_intro.htm **** Go out hard, when it hurts speed up...
