Sent: Thursday, December 02, 1999 10:34 AM Subject: Incline Club V4 LR #2 Wow, last weeks long run was awesome! I do not know about you but seeing all the familiar faces and so many new faces really got me pumped for the new season. 31 people showed on the first run of our 4th year! Of course the great weather helped but it really got me excited. If I have not told you THANKS for coming out!!! I hope you had someone at your level to run with or at least near! This Sunday, December 5, 8 a.m. meet in the COG parking lot. Run out the Ute Indian Trail and then turn LEFT and head up Longs Ranch which connects back into the Barr Trail at No Name Creek. Run down the Barr Trail to finish the loop. 2-2.5 hours. It is supposed to be quite a bit colder but that never bothers the Incline Club!!!! **** WARNING!!!! Perhaps it has something to do with the holiday season but yesterday I received not just one but TWO e-mails with viruses attached. Even odder is the fact that I have only gotten one mail of this nature over the last several years. Neither virus got me so do not worry about the list but one of them came from someone that is in the club so be on the lookout for it. I have confirmed that someone else in the club got the message from the same person as well!!! I have been unable to contact the sender and do not know if they know. I got lucky on this one because the sender and I have a history of trying to get each other by sending each other to silly www sites like how to keep an idiot busy which does nothing which of course makes the viewer the idiot, etc. As I started looking at the code of the attachment there were a few lines that bothered me like a FOR NEXT loop that was checking network drives. Most of the code was encoded with a really slick routine that encrypts what is going on. For the programmers out there I kept a copy of it and reverse engineered it. It is really quite fascinating how it works I will send you a copy if you would like to see it. At any rate, if you get a message from someone you know that has check this as the subject and have fun with these links. bye. Do not run the attachment. The virus is known as the VBS.FREELINK virus. If you already ran it, it does not do any real damage other than sending itself out to everyone in your address book. You can get more info here: www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/vbs.freelink.html The OTHER virus that somebody sent me was the happy99.exe virus. Actually a worm not a virus. I had read about this one (and this is the one I got sent about a sometime ago) so I simply did not open it and informed the infected person. Again this one sends itself to people in your address book if you are infected but at least it gives you a nice little fireworks display for your efforts;-) The point here is be careful about what you open even if it is from someone you know!!! I know it has me thinking because the Incline Club list is now over 160 and has a whos who of Colorado Springs tech companies on it. Think about your own address books and BE CAREFUL out there. One might come a long that does more than just send itself around! **** See you Sunday. For those running the race in Pueblo on Sunday as always go out hard, when it hurts speed up...
