Sent: Thursday, December 16, 1999 4:42 PM Subject: Incline Club V4 LR #4 We had another big group last week with 29 people and 3 dogs taking on Waldo. Looks like some of the out/back people are getting farther on their out/backs and the loopers are getting the loop done faster that is what it is all about!!! #### This Sunday, December 19, 8 a.m. meet in the COG parking lot. Run out the Ute Indian Trail and then turn LEFT and head up Longs Ranch which connects back into the Barr Trail at No Name Creek. Run down the Barr Trail to finish the loop. 2-2.5 hours. #### I am really excited that I tracked down about 100 copies of the book Americas Ultimate Challenge: The Pikes Peak Marathon. For those that never heard of the book or for those that thought they were all gone now is your chance to get a copy. I am selling the books to raise money for Friends of the Peak. Go here for details: http://www.skyrunner.com/story/aucbook.htm The page is not accessible from a link yet because I want to give Incline Clubers first shot. Next week I will put the remaining books on the Pikes Peak page of my site. I consider this book a must for any peak runner and not just because I am trying to raise money for a great group. It has some great tips from many Pikes Peak winners and it also offers a fair amount of training advice. Check it out and reserve your copy today before they really are all gone! #### Thanks to those that helped me track down Kevin Cs and Jeff Ms address. That should be two less bounced e-mails every week. #### Congrats to those in the club that did the Rock Canyon Half in Pueblo 2 weeks ago. Looks like we had four in the top 10 with the womans overall winner! Paul Sullivan 1:20:35 Thom Santa Maria 1:21:44 Rick Hessek 1:23:05 Mariko Shirazi 1:24:25 1st overall women Larry Miller 1:25:05 Bev Zimmerman 1:27:04 Eck Zimmerman 1:29:59 Bob McAndrews 1:30:54 Todd Burgess 1:35:27 Thanks to Rick H for putting together the list! #### Tim A writes: As a physicist, I just thought you should know the real reason for the super bright full moon: It an arrangement I cooked up to help celebrate my girls (yes plural and possessive) 10th birthday. #### Steve B writes: Thanks for the info on the full moon on the solstice. I will be climbing Capitol Peak on either the 22nd or 23rd. It has never been done in one day in the winter. If its clear our early start will be under the most advantageous conditions imaginable! I didnt realize those facts about the increase in size and light. Thanks for passing it on! #### After 3 weeks we have a new leader on the workout board. Club newbie Connilee W took over the top spot when Anthony S missed run #3. To give you an ideal how tight the board is at the beginning of the year Anthony went from #1 to 29th. But it works both ways. The last place runner after #2 jumped up 20 spots after making run #3. #### See you Sunday, Go out hard, when it hurts speed up... Matt Carpenter www.skyrunner.com
