Sent: Monday, December 20, 1999 4:06 PM Subject: Incline Club V4 LR #5 & Moonhike Yes this is a bit early in the week but I wanted to give those that are interested the heads up on the moonlight hike set for Wednesday night. You may have heard of the group that does a moonlight hike to Barr Camp every Friday closest to the full moon: http://www.pcisys.net/~rld/hike. To celebrate the moon event I wrote about 2 weeks ago they have moved the hike to this Wednesday at 4pm. What: Moonlight hike to Barr Camp and back When: Wednesday, December 22, 1999 at 4:00pm meet at 3:45; start hiking promptly at 4:00 REALLY ]] Where: Base of Barr Trail in Manitou Springs Let Brian (e-mail address removed for www posting) know if you can make it or for more info. ***** Sunday, December 26, 8 a.m. meet in the COG parking lot. Run out the Ute Indian Trail and then cross Hwy 24 and do the Waldo Canyon lollipop loop clockwise. Cross back over Hwy 24 (be careful) and return to COG parking lot via Ute Indian trail. 2-2.5 hours. If this loop will take more than 2.5 hours do an out/back instead! Reminder: After you finish the Waldo loop please run up the Waldo parking lot until you are even with the crossing before you cross Hwy 24. This is a very bad crossing with little time for cars to stop for tired runners. ***** The Pikes Peak book sale is going well. Already 1/3 of the books are gone! Soon I will start trying to sell them outside of the club so please take a few minutes and go here http://www.skyrunner.com/story/aucbook.htm to see if you would want this book. Several people bought a book at the long run who had missed it in the last e-mail so I thought I would give it another shot. Its OK and I wont be too upset to learn that people really dont read these things;-) ***** Several people wrote: Did Thom Santa Maria do a 1:12 at the race or was that a typo? If it was not a typo then he should have been listed before Paul! Just trying to keep you on your toes !:-) YEP it was a typo, Thom ran a 1:21 the order was correct and he still got in the top 10:-) ***** Marty T writes: Since today was the first run for me, I was nervous how the club would be. I was pleased and motivated. I may not have done as well as I would have liked, but I cant wait until next week to better that. I spoke with a gal, I dont remember her name, (I think it started with an E) after the run, she was very helpful in answering my questions on clothing. The club members seem friendly and fun. I will see you Sunday. ***** www post: 12/19/1999 30 people and 3 K9s headed out the Ute Indian Trail and then ran up Longs Ranch Hill I mean Longs Ranch Road. Ice on Barr Trail was the norm today had to be very careful. Dan V and I stopped for 10 minute and destroyed a tree that had fallen across the trail thatl learn it!!! A lot more people made the whole loop this time compared to two weeks ago we are already getting stronger:-) ***** Go out hard, when it hurts speed up... Matt Carpenter www.skyrunner.com
