Incline Club V4 LR #14

Hi all,

Yvonne and I are still in catch-up mode but we want to say we are so
grateful to all of you that turned out for the wedding run! Looking over the
many pictures the one common theme we see is laughing and smiles:-) Our main
goal was to have a fun day and it turned into more than we could have ever
hoped for! I am sure the memories are going to last Yvonne and I a lifetime.
In the short-term I have already caught myself humming the bride song and
Chariots of Fire on several occasions. Even the Gazette called the kazoo
effort “presentable":-) You all helped make a perfect day for us — we have
lots of thank you’s to get out and we are working on it.

Post Wedding Contest:
Be the first to identify what was put in the sheets of our bed at the
reception and win a T-shirt! Translation: You will have to own up to your
dastardly deed to win but everyone else should have fun trying to guess the
object(s);-)

Sunday, February 27, 8 a.m. meet in the COG parking lot.
Up to Barr Camp and out Elk Park to clearing and back. 3-3.5 hours. Newbies
turn back at Barr Camp. If the snow is still deep on Elk Park we won’t go
there but instead we will head down Longs Ranch Road and back via the Ute
Indian Trail to add on some time.

I am still reveling in my newfound “trail feet” and enjoying the security of
the sheet metal screws on my shoes on ice and hard snow. And Laura now too
shares in this wonderful, effective safeguard against the effects of sudden
impulsive bursts of horizontal momentum that inevitably translate into and
abrupt vertical gravitational acceleration. I am in a quandary though as to
the laws of physics at work when I see Neal T running on icy/snowpacked
trails, up like a gazelle, down like a mountain goat, but always staying on
his feet. It’s as if he has “ice magnets” embedded in the soles of his
feet. On the occasions I’ve run with Neal on hazardous trail conditions, me
with my ice screws, he with his ice magnets, and watched him pull away at a
rapid rate of run down the trail, it is simply incredible! Amazing! But
what now really causes me wonderment, is what I observed this past Sunday
during the “Wedding Run.” Neal T, Teresa T, Laur aL, Rick H and I left the Cog
Rail parking lot early in order to make the wedding on time, and had just
completed the Waldo loop, over ice, snow, rocks, etc., and as we were
pulling in to the wedding site, the virtually bone dry, ice-free, snow
sparse Waldo overlook, Neal T stops and, inexplicably, falls over onto a
cactus. Hmmmmm... could it be that Neal’s ice magnets became ineffective
without ice underneath, and a slight gust of wind tipped him over? An
inquiring Incliner wants to know what caused Neal T to recline...

www post:
2/20/2000 The “Wedding Run” was a success:-) Yvonne and I were touched by
the turnout for our marriage! 96 people and 9 dogs made it to the ceremony.
59 of the people and 7 dogs got “*”s for running or hiking to the ceremony.
Those who came to the club run for the first time but did not run got a “W”
for Wedding. 76 kazoos made Chariots of Fire, Here Comes the Bride and Rocky
reverberate off the walls of Waldo and Williams Canyon! Apologies to those
that did not get a kazoo - 76 trombones may have led the big parade but it
was not enough for the big “I DO!” Dan V won the Best Man race and Annemarie
W took the Bridesmaid honors. Enough bird seed was thrown to keep the Waldo
Canyon bird population fed until summer. Thanks to video analysis of the
wedding ceremony the grassy knoll snowball thrower has been narrowed down to
two suspects:-) The reception later in the evening saw 18 large pizzas, a
huge cake, tons of ice cream, drinks and chips disappear without a trace.
Glen A ran the pool table off of a break becoming the first person to do so
on my table! Like the last Incline Club party he went undefeated! However
this time no one was silly enough to put any money on the table against
him;-)
