Sent: Wednesday, May 03, 2000 1:24 PM Subject: Incline Club V4 TH #5 LR #24 That was an incredible turnout for a very hard workout last Thursday! Since no one got hit by a car the workout will become the 4th of our four alternating Thursday workouts:-) #### Thursday, May 4, 5:30 p.m. meet at Soda Springs Park. Warm-up to the Incline. We will be using handicaps with slowest times going first. Head back down the Barr Trail and do 4-6 Hydro Street hill repeats. Cool down back to park. Handicaps are posted here for IE users: http://www.skyrunner.com/story/handicap.htm For those that have not run the Incline this year: - Use your PR and find the NEXT fastest person and start with them. - Newbies start with the last (fastest) runner! ----- Sunday, May 7, 8 a.m. meet at Soda Springs Park. To Barr Camp (or higher) and back. On the way down, if you want, go up and back down Longs Ranch Road and back via the Ute Indian Trail. 2.5-3.5 hours. #### Pre-announcement for Incline Clubbers Registration for the Barr Trail Mountain Race to be held on August 6th at 7 a.m. has begun:-) Since the race goes to Barr Camp and back it will serve as the Incline Club long run for that Sunday. For those of you new to the sport, now is your chance to get your feet wet. It will also serve as the perfect tune-up run for the ascent or marathon that follow two weeks later. Thanks to the race sponsors, 100% of the $15 entry fee will be going to three nonprofit organizations: 50% Barr Camp, 25% Friends of the Peak, 25% All American Trail Running Association. Get more information and register online at http://www.runpikespeak.com Note: The race has a limit of only 300 runners. #### Tony E writes: Good news for the weather for the rest of the week. We are going to have way above normal temperatures (80s Thu-Sat) and the freezing level will stay up around 14,000ft so there will be a BIG MELToff of the snow on the upper part of the Peak. I think we will be able to run on dirt a ways up above Barr Camp this Sun. The weather will turn a bit on Sun (increased clouds, isolated showers, not as hot) but it still looks good. See you tomorrow for a HOT climb up the Incline... #### www posts: 4/30/2000 40 people braved what looked like pretty bad weather but actually it was perfect weather for a long run. This was the first run of the year we did not have to run in any snow - at least snow on the ground as it did snow a little during the run. Both Waldo and Longs Ranch Road are totally clear:-) But unlike some of the past runs where we hung out after we finished for stupid human tricks the cold weather sent many straight home for a bathtub soak! 4/27/2000 A club record tying 47 people did 40 minutes of repeats up the Highway 24 bypass. The top 30 on the workout board showed which is a record for the most stars in a row! Pacing was the name of the game and many kept their 5-10 repeats within 5-20 seconds of each other. Afterwards we did some bounding and high knee drills in the grass of Memorial park. This was a good tough workout and the large group really pushed each other! #### Last Thursday Glen A and Joe C came to their 25th Incline Club workout of the season! #### Go out hard, when it hurts speed up...
