Hello ICers,
Its time to get busy:-) This Sunday we start the 2001 season our 5th season!
Sunday, November 26, 8 a.m. meet at Soda Springs Park.
Run out the Ute Indian Trail and then cross Hwy 24 and do the Waldo Canyon
lollipop loop in either direction. Cross back over Hwy 24 (be careful) and
return via the Ute Indian Trail. 2-3 hours. If it would take longer do an
out/back instead of the whole loop!
NOTE: We are starting from Soda Springs Park and not the COG like past years.
####
The club grew a lot last year:-) 307 different people attended the 60
workouts compared to about 170 for the 60 in 1999. In all 2,540 *s were
posted!!! That is 42.3 people per workout or an average of 8.27 workouts per
person. I know it blows me away! Most importantly however is that it was a
successful season for a lot of our runners so as the saying goes, If it
aint broke dont fix it. I foresee only some minor tweaks to our workouts
but most of those will not happen until the summer.

New R added:
By request we have added an R that can help keep streaks going and
encourage club members to head out and do races! An R will be awarded for
any of the following:
-Any trail race 10K or longer
-Any race half marathon or longer
-Any race that climbs more than 2000 feet
-Any race that has a point higher than 10,000
For any of the above a race report must be sent for the club newsletter
This is basically the same list reported in OS#3 except the road race has been cut to a half marathon instead of 20 miles.
One other addition has been asked for that could use some feedback: It has been asked that if the race is out of state and on a Saturday but meets the above criteria that it will count also. Many of us do local Saturday races and then still run the Sunday runs but this would help those of us who do non-local events.

New running forum started:
I have started a www message board at www.runpikespeak.com/forum in the
hopes of allowing peak runners to have their own place to go to ask
questions and get answers. It is new so there are few posts there now but
please drop by and ask a question or post a comment. Over time I think this
will become a valuable resource for all of us!

I would like to invite all of you to participate in the 22nd PPRR Winter
Series. This is a series of four progressive-in-length races, a short series
and a long series, in different area trail locations. The first race is Jan.
13 at Fox Run Park. The second is Jan. 27 at Fort Carson. The third is Feb.
10 at Shepards-BC/BS-Santa Fe Trail. The fourth is Feb. 24 in Black Forest.
The long series progresses in length from 10K to 20K. The short series
ranges from 5K to 10K. These races are all on Saturdays so you can still get your butt out the door for your Incline Club * on Sunday. You can
register at active.com, or the old-fashioned way at the Runners Roost,
Boulder Running Company, and Colorado Running Company.
Tom K and I are in charge of registration this year and we would like to
invite anyone to come volunteer to help us out. We promise you fun in the
sun, snow, wind, cold, and all the donuts, cider, and hot chocolate you
could ever want. You will also get compd for the series (that means you can
run it for free!), youll get a long sleeved mock turtleneck, and youll be
eligible for an award if you complete the series (running and volunteering).
Now, how can you pass up a deal like that?!?!? It would be great to get some
new folks involved. If you are interested or would like more information,
you can e-mail me at (e-mail address removed for www posting). Thanks and I hope to hear
from you!
