Hi there ICers,
WOW! I must admit to being rather floored by the turnout last Sunday 45 runners made the first run of the 2001 season! Well I guess I should not have been too surprised because we are a diehard lot. However these are not easy runs so it is still amazing that there are that many people who would want to subject themselves to such torture. Based on what I have heard I am NOT the only one who needed a nap after their Sunday run! As you may know this Sunday we head up baby hill, momma hill and poppa hill but at least it is looking like we will be doing them in some great weather:-)

Sunday, December 3, 8 a.m. meet at Soda Springs Park.
Run out the Ute Indian Trail and turn left and head up Longs Ranch which
connects back into the Barr Trail at No Name Creek. Run down the Barr Trail
to finish the loop. 2-3 hours. If it would take longer do an out/back
instead of the whole loop!

I was 3rd in the Atlanta Marathon, 1st masters in 2:43 on Thanksgiving Day.
Pretty nice course, with seven sizeable hills. Weather was about right,
starting out in the low 30s and slightly warming from there. I moved up
throughout the race from 7th to 3rd. The winning time was 2:34:00.

Several are headed down to Pueblo this weekend for the Rock Canyon Half
Marathon and what might be our first R reports:-) Good luck!

Thanks to the many of you that showed for the trail/mountain talk at the
Colorado Running Company on Monday! It was great to see so many ICers in the
crowd:-) Sounds like they are going to be doing more of these so stay
tuned...

Oh man, there are 44 people in front of me on the workout board! Can we do
a reverse alphabetical list this year?
For now BobM has the top spot but there is talk of an IC conspiracy by people whos name start with a K to force him to go by RobertM instead of BobM. Rumor has it that this also played a part into why Lynn and GaryH named their son AlexH but this has not been confirmed;-)

Got more than the normal number of requests to be added to the club mailing
list
this week here are some of the comments just to show some of the diversity
of our growing group:
>From Gordon B:
Could you please add my name to the Incline mailing list. Im training for
the 2001 Ascent (my first) and would like to start with the crazy incliners.

>From Kevin A:
Thanks for a great run on Sunday! It was my first run with the club and I
really enjoyed it. I am making running a priority this season and will
most likely be doing many of the Sunday runs. Please add me to the mailing
list, so I can keep up to date.

>From Dan K:
I look forward to doing some training runs with the club. Im training for
the Boston Marathon and the upcoming tri-season.

www post:
11/26/2000 The first run of the 2001 season had a big turnout with 45
runners heading out the Ute Pass Trail and then doing the Waldo Canyon loop.
Last year we started with 31 runners and it took until April to get this big
of a turnout so the Incline Club is on track for a great year! The snow was
not too bad and the temperature not too cold so it was a great way to start
the season. It is always fun after the off season to see all the familiar
faces. It is not so fun getting reminded that the UPT somehow is uphill in
both directions.

Go out hard, when it hurts speed up...
