Howdy ICers,
I hope Santa brought you something nice and warm:-) I have got to tell you that I look forward to the Sunday club runs more and more when it is this cold!
And just like that we are getting ready for the last Sunday long run of 2002. It just so happens it is Longs Ranch Road and Bryan Willis has even made a song about it. (See below). Remember on these cold days to take a couple minutes to warm up before the run or start a little slower. Either way can save the day!

NEXT RUN:
###############################################
Sunday, December 29, 8:00am Soda Springs Park
Run out the UPT and take TWO lefts and head UP Longs Ranch Road. Try not to cry when you hit Poppa Bear Hill. Take J pipe, LR or Bobs to connect to Barr and head back to the park. 2-3 hours. See Map! http://www.inclineclub.com/maps/upt_lrr_bt.htm
Note: This is the last solo LRR run scheduled although, and of course, you are welcome to do it any time you want;-)

Lost and found: Found, a black hat and a black headband. Probably not from the same person unless someone really hates being cold.

Bryan Willis writes (or rather sings)
To the tune of Jingle Bells
You know Dashing through the snow, in a one horse open sleigh...
Jingle Bells Incline Club style
A day or two ago
I though Id take a run
Upon Longs Ranch Road
I thought Id have some fun
But to my surprise
Before I got to the top
All I could think of is
How much Id like to stop,
Oh-
(Longs Ranch Road,
Longs Ranch Road,
Im running you today!
You look very tough to me
what more can anyone say! (repeat))
The moral to my song,
If you go on a run,
Try your best to avoid this place,
Go somewhere else thats fun!

ICU (Incline Club Ultra) Sunday 12/22/02 Report: Rick Hessek, Paul Dewitt, Keith Grimes, & I, left from Gold Camp Parking lot & ran up Gold Camp Road (GCR) approx. 3 miles then headed east on an old jeep road that petered out. We bush-whacked and ran other jeep/mining roads in the Hillside Gold Mine claim area located in the valley between GCR and Old Stage Coach Road. Found several abandoned surface mine pits, cabins and a gold mine to be explored later. Returned via GCR. 3 hours/12 + miles according to Ricks GPS. Other news: Keith is 16 lbs more abundant than 4 months ago. Thats a lot of calories to burn til Western States.

Ran Section 16 Thursday, trail is in great shape with only about an inch of snow, little slippery going up the steeps. See you Sunday.
(Matt C adds: I will try to get the maps for Section 16 added in the coming week:-)

12/22/02 The Christmas holidays did not stop 85 from coming out for the last solo run of Waldo. Quite a few made the whole loop for the first time to mark the occasion. Very little snow and ice pack today and it warmed up rather nicely. After 5 runs there are still 35 people with perfect streaks compared to only 26 at this point last year. Peggy Monson won the first about me page scavenger hunt T-shirt.
