Subject: Incline Club V9 LR #3
Hi ICers,
Its time for a trip up to Barr Camp and back. After several years of avoiding this run early in the season we are adding it back into the rotation. The main reason is thanks to the help of a lot of ICers No Name Creek does not seem to be turning into an ice rink anymore. However, there will still be plenty of ice and slick spots so if you are one of those people that tend to end up in the horizontal position please consider making yourself some screw shoes. http://www.skyrunner.com/screwshoe.htm Finally, dont forget that the only drinks available at Barr Camp are of the for sale variety including water and Gatorade.
####
Several have asked if I removed them from the Incline Club mailing list. I never remove people from the mailing list unless their e-mail bounces 2 weeks in a row (used to be 3). Otherwise, only you can add yourself to the list and only you can take yourself off the list. See Account Setting below which is posted with every IC newsletter
####
Please remember that while the IC started out as a K9 friendly club, dogs are no longer welcome at club runs! Simply, there were too many dog fights, too much dog poop and way too many people (dog owners and non owners alike) getting knocked down by dogs. If you want to run with people come run with us. Otherwise, please leave 15 minutes before or after the group if you feel you need to run with your dog.

See you Sunday!

Distance = 50 km
Goal = break 6 hours
Results = 5:53:14
Website = http://othtc.com
General = The OTHTC (Over The Hill Track Club) 50km is run primarly on rolling trails in the high desert, about 2 hours outside of Death Valley.
Right = Finished under 6 hours despite an IT band injury
Wrong = Pushed when my IT band really hurt. It still hurts. Could have done a lot better if it werent for this injury.
Other Stuff =

Brenda & Joe Cowell
Race = Memphis St. Judes Marathon
Location = Memphis TN
Date = 12-04-04
Distance = 26.2 Miles
Goal = To Finish
Results = Finished !!
General = This race was run around downtown Memphis to benefit St. Judes childrens hospital. The weather was perfect-cool and sunny.
Right = Almost everything. Ate lots of Gu during the race and also drank every mile.
Wrong = More road miles would have helped.
Other Stuff = We enjoyed the scenery and sights of Memphis. Saw Elvis and listened to some terrific music on Beale St., home of the blues. Had a lot of fun running the race together.

John Cassidy reports:
Race = Rock Canyon Half Marathon
Location = Pueblo, CO
Date = 12/4/04
Distance = 13.1
Goal = 1:59:59
Results = 1:52.31
Website = http://www.socorunners.org/
General = Mostly flat course. Run around the zoo twice, then down to the Arkansas River bottom. Follow the river to Pueblo Dam then back to the zoo. Hydro street type hill at 12.75 miles while running out of the river bottoms.
Right = Arrived in time. No walking sessions during the race. Listened to music instead of by breathing. Stayed behind Diane four the first 4 miles. Passing her to soon has meant me dying on the 2nd half of any race.
Wrong = Didnt practice eating a gel while stressed ie. during a run. I should have car pooled it to Pueblo. I still have no kick at the end of a race.
Other Stuff = Ran with Incline club members who were faster than me last year. Im slowing improving.

Diane Repasky
Race = Rock Canyon Half Marathon
Location = Pueblo Colorado
Date = December 4 ,2004
Distance = 13.1 miles
Goal = 1hour 50 minutes
Results = 1hour 52 minutes 36 seconds
Website = http://www.socorunners.org
General = Start and finish in Pueblo city park. Run along the Arkansas River Trail. Out and back course on dirt and asphalt trails with some concrete. Mostly flat course with one short steep hill.
Right = Got plenty of rest before the race and was well hydrated. Started out a little fast but monitored my pace and fell into one that I was able to maintain for the duration of the race.
Wrong = A little over dressed and didnt eat my usual pre race dinner the night before.
Other Stuff = Nice course and a fun race but too much concrete, my legs are feeling the effect.

Al Garcia reports:
Race = Rock Canyon Half Marathon
Location = Pueblo, CO
Date = December 4, 2004
Distance = 13.1 miles
Goal = 1:45
Results = 1:50:49
General = Good course with great weather. Race was about the same course from last year (I think?) Well marked and marshaled. I really like the sweatshirt!
Right = Had enough rest going into this race. Made it to the location with enough time to get organized. Definitely had a good meal the night before which seemed to help.
Wrong = Was a little over dressed. Didnt move thru the aid stations well enough. Didnt move out soon enough to hit my goal time- I felt good and could of pushed it a bit harder.
Other Stuff = This is a small race compared to a lot of others. This seems to make it a low key kind of affair. Definitely a race to test how things are going. I had a good time!

12/05/04 Sun: A much nicer day greeted 84 ICers for our first run up Longs Ranch Road for the season. LRR wasted no time reminding almost everyone that it was the boss and for good measure the snow on the ground added insult to injury. Be that as it may, quite a few people commented that they felt much better this week than last.
