Happy Wednesday, ICers!
It’s not hard to believe that 58 of us proved that ICers are a hardy bunch by showing up last week for a run in 12 degree temps, frost and ice. Way to go!

Remember that the Incline Club will be having TWO runs this weekend: Join

Head out the Ute Pass Trail until it intersects Longs Ranch Road. Take TWO
lefts and head UP Longs Ranch Road. Try to smile when you hit Poppa Bear
Hill;-) Connect back into the Barr Trail at No Name Creek and run back
down to Memorial Park. Take the J Pipe trail before the top of LRR for a
shorter run.

Report on Run to Barr Trail Last Week
Jason Jungbauer writes: On Sunday I decided to forgo the suggested club
run and headed up the Barr trail to Barr Camp- what a day! Just below No
Name I broke free of the clouds, it was twenty degrees warmer and not a
cloud in the sky! The only ice was on the W’s on the way back down. Just
awesome being up above the clouds, and a nice warm fire waiting for you at
the half way point!

New Treatment for Plantar Fasciitis
Jonathan Cavner writes: As some of you know I have been suffering from a
plantar fasciitis injury for one year. I attempted treatments ranging
from simple taping, various shots, to physical therapy. Nothing seemed to
work. However,I’m back running as of this weekend! I finally found
something that worked for me. I took advantage a naturopathic solution<
called platelet therapy. Platelet therapy is an advanced version of what’s
commonly referred to as prolotherapy (see

Within two weeks I could run in the hills without pain. Amazing! I’m
looking forward to getting back into shape again.

12/18 Sun: Another really cold day made for another “small” group. “Just” 58 Icers showed up for a 12 degree icefest. And while the ice was bad in several places, what made it dangerous was the fact that it was covered by a thin layer of fresh snow so you couldn’t see it until it was often too late. This was especially true coming back down Waldo which was our run today. But you know what? Despite my Gatorade freezing and my fingers getting cold it was an awesome run and a great day to get out and be alive. Those that stayed home will have to deal with it come race day! Indeed, today was one of those “gut check” days that you look back to on race day when the evil demons visit our heads and try to tell us that we are not tough enough.
