Hi there ICers,
Would you look at that? Connilee steps out of town for a while and already
I am a day late putting out the newsletter. Man, I dont know how she does
it, but I do know that it is appreciated!

Todays (5/25) protocol is a 30 minute tempo run up the Barr Trail. Be
ready to go at Hydro Street at 5:45pm. I have heard from quite a few of
you that you are taking out your all-time PRs for the workout. Personally,
I think this is because the protocol change we implemented on the 1 on, 1
off, workout is carrying over to this workout as well as our running in
general. Awesome! Just remember that it is a workout and not a race. Now,
I admit that sometimes I cross that line the last minute or so if I am
close to a good one. But otherwise, keep it a workout! Save racing for
race day...
Sunday (5/28) is Barr Camp or higher. And by higher, I mean the snow is
all but gone so go for the top:-)
We will be switching over to the Elk Park runs soon. Again this year we
are going to alternate Elk with runs from the bottom instead of just
staying at Elk. As I have said in the past, too many just do Elk and
forget what the top feels like after having to run up to Barr Camp.

Yvonne and I put another T-shirt deal together only to find out that most
of what we wanted is not available this time of year. It is all rather
frustrating. But this is just to let you know we are working on a much
simplified order with the goal of getting shirts by BTMR and PPA/M time.

I have heard back from one of the runners who had some flying bullet
issues on the Williams Canyon Trail up by the Rampart Range Road shooting
range. He spoke with Frank Landis of the Forest Service and reports that,
He said theyre working on turning the range over to a third party to run
the thing. Supposedly this would cause the shooters to have to follow the
rules of the range a little more closely.
Unless they plan on having a babysitter up there 24/7 I am not sure how
having a third party involved is going to fix the fact that people should
not be firing off into the woods. Sounds like a great way to say its not
the FSs problem anymore. At the same time, and to be perfectly honest, I
have put off asking for people to contact the Forest Service for selfish
reasons. Having worked with them on various projects it was (and to some
extent still is) my belief that they will solve the problem by simply
closing the trail. But since it sounds like they are not leaning that
way by all means make your voice heard. If you would like to join in the
fun give Frank a call at 636-1602. Not often it is true that it really
could be a matter of life and death...

A huge THANK YOU to the many of you that responded to my plea to help out
at the Pine Belt Pacers running club auction and ok, I admit, help feed my
already overly inflated ego. Not only did ICers make my items the high
priced running items, you blew the doors off and made my items the high
priced items of the auction. I am honored and again thank you! They are
well on their way to establishing a running scholarship fund. Auction
results are here: http://www.pinebeltpacers.org/Auction/AuctionRpt.html
