Howdy ICERS!

BTMR — Great Job Everyone!
Even though the weather was HOT, it was so COOL to see all the runners and volunteers this year at the BTMR! I was just a lowly spectator/cheerleader but I can honestly say great job to everyone who put so much effort into your race; and to the excellent volunteer and committee folks who put on an excellent performance as well. Is this the best yet? Y’all did fantastic out there!

Last Week’s Dr Rocket Question

Munching in Montana writes:
Dear Doctor Rocket, I’d like to thank the ICers own uber-ultra-runner
Anita Bower for making it acceptable nay, even COOL/trendy/fashionable, to
substitute cheap, delicious Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies for those
nasty-tasting, high-cost energy bars! Why, I frequently do this even
whenNOT running an ultra (or running at all, for that matter)! But tell
me, Dr.Rocket am I suffering nutritionally by making this switch? Would
there be a better choice for a snack (say, maybe a DIFFERENT Little Debbie
product)? — Munching in Montana

Dr Rocket Replies:
Dear Little Munchkin from Big Pie Country, Your question regarding
nutritional fashion statements might at first appear misdirected, if not
unpalatable, however, a glance at any modern-day food label should
convince anyone with the brains of an intoxicated gerbil that nutrition
must be rocket science, in fact, it is extremely likely that the food
labels were written by intoxicated gerbils. It should also come as no
surprise that those nasty tasting, high-cost energy bars were originally
developed by NASA scientists. However, after extensive testing, the foam
glass material was chosen instead for the Space Shuttle thermal tiles due
to mass and thermal considerations. The foam glass also doesn’t stick in
your throat quite as readily when swallowed. Can you imagine the
newspaper headlines: Shuttle External Tank Damaged by of Piece of Pickle
Flavored BrickBar?

Though the ancient Egyptian nutritional rocket scientists lacked the
fashion consciousness necessary to include it when they were building the
food pyramid, Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies are now an accepted
ultra-running supplement. It is in fact included in the “Everything” food
group. And now it seems archeologists have discovered more recent
historical evidence promoting the ultra-benefits demi-cakes when they
uncovered empty Little Debbie wrappers in a dig located behind Matt and
Yvonne’s old condo (They’ll probably blame it on
Kyla). So I think Anita is on to something (Good luck with the LD
endorsement Anita. Check out
http://www.littledebbie.com/about/racing.asp). Just don’t
uber do it. Too many Little Debbie’s without lots of running might result
in BIG Debbie dress sizes.

Alternative supplements? My personal favorites are Moon Pies, but don’t
let on to Misses Missile, as this deviates significantly from the dietary
trajectory she has us launched on. And by the way, has anyone seen my
Honey Buns?

Bun Appetit, Dr. Rocket

Munch out hard, when it hurts, next time remove the wrapper first.
