How about some more snow?! Well the weekend forecast is for great weather (especially on Sunday) — not that it would matter, the Incline Club will be out there running anyways.

One last reminder that tomorrow is the day to sign up for the 2007 Pikes Peak Ascent or Marathon. Be ready to go at 8 AM sharp! Then you can get back to the real work — the training!

More Car Break Ins
Tom Kelecy writes: Laura and I ran from the Woodmen trailhead/parking area of the Santa Fe trail this morning (Feb 22) for the first time in a few months, and between 6-7 am someone broke into the vehicle that was parked right next to ours. We make it a point not to leave valuables in our vehicle when we run, but the couple who owned the vehicle that was broken into (we only know them as Scott and Holly)
had a purse, cell phone and other valuables taken. They’ve been running/biking from that parking area before work for years, and never have had a problem. I guess the lesson is don’t leave valuables in your car. Also, be vigilant. -Tom
(Editor’s note: Have heard of several other car break ins recently. Seems there is a trend in town here so please take caution and keep yourself and your valuables safe.)

And More Shooting On Rampart Range Road
Debbi Meyer writes: Hey Icer’s, After the gunfire that was coming down into Williams Canyon on Sunday the 18th, someone recommended that I call the Sheriff’s Office that handles El Paso County outside the city limits (phone #390-5555). I spoke with a deputy and told him
what was going on. He was not aware that a trail that runs below the shooting range. (I’m not surprised since it’s not marked.) He suggested contacting the Forest Service to put up some signs. He also said they would try to set up some patrols on Rampart Range Road but said unless they catch someone shooting where they are not supposed to, they can’t do anything. (It is a shooting range after all.) So he said if any of us have cell phones and are up there when people are
shooting down into the canyon to call them and they will send someone out. It is also helpful to them if we can describe vehicles, people, etc. (I’m not getting that close to them!)Anyway, my hope is that people just don’t realize there is a hiking trail below the range and they will stop shooting down there.
