Subject: Incline Club V13 TH #9 LR #27 Graduation Announcement , Trail Etiquette
Good Evening Incline Club!
Seattle called, they wanted their weather back... The good news is that the skies are looking clear for the next few days (well, except for the usual afternoon thing). Not that it impacted us much, as the last 2 club runs managed to get slotted into some ideal weather conditions. As a bonus, there was no snow to deal with on the trip up to the bottomless pit (beyond that the reports varied depending on how far up one went and exactly how long your legs were to result in knee high snow :~).

NEXT RUN: Interval (Thursday), Waldo/LRR Double! (Sunday)
***********************************************
Thursday, May 28, 5:45pm Hydro Street
Warm up from Memorial Park in time to get to Hydro Street. Do 30 minutes of 1 min hard, 1 min easy up the Barr Trail. Easy back down the Barr Trail. Do 5 Ruxton Ave hill repeats.
Sunday, May 31, 8:00AM Memorial Park
Waldo/LRR double! Run the UPT and then head over and do Waldo Canyon either way. Next, head up LRR and return via the Barr Trail. 3-4 hours, if it would be longer just do Waldo or LRR.

Special Announcement: Brianca is Graduating!
***********************************************

Trail Etiquette Reminder
***********************************************
Just as a reminder, with the exception of race day, proper trail etiquette calls for downhill traffic to yield to uphill traffic. As a general rule, if you are going too fast to yield to an unexpected movement (or lack of movement) by another hiker/runner/dog, then you are probably going too fast. Besides, it is best not to fry your legs out on the downhill and save them for your next hard run.

Weekend Weather Report:
***********************************************
Thursday: 60s and 50% sky cover. 10% chance of precipitation.
Sunday: Mid to upper 50s at the start under partially cloudy skies. It should be in the upper 60s when you finish.

Race Reports:
***********************************************
This week, Maritsa Yupa goes for speed over distance and Charles Scheibe finally recovers enough to fill in his report from the Greenland 25k :-)

Take 5 at the Garden Garden of the Gods 5/2/2009

4th Annual Greenland Trails 25K South of Larkspur, CO 05/09/2009
Charles Scheibe reports:
Distance: 25 K
Goal: 2:30
Results: 2:36
Website: http://www.greenland50k.com/
General Summary:
The course passes through native grasslands, by ponds, through rolling Gamble oak hills and skirts ponderosa pine forests allowing for outstanding views of Pikes Peak and the surrounding buttes.
Things Done Right:
Successfully fought through wind with a consistent effort. Dressed appropriately for the surprisingly cold weather.
Things Done Wrong:
As always, could have been better prepared but all things considered, ran as well as I could.
Any Other Stuff:
The entire course is run on dirt trails. With wide, smooth double track trails, the Greenland Trail 50K is a very fast course and also very beginner friendly. There will be an aid station at mile 3.5 and 7.5 of each loop.

Take 5 at the Garden Garden of the Gods 5/2/2009
Maritsa Yupa reports:
Distance: 5k
Goal: Running for fun!
Results: 24:07.95
Website: http://www.ccrtiming.com/races/results/2009/09Garden5.htm
General Summary:
My last name is misspelled on the results page... instead of Yupa it is spelled Yga...
Things Done Right:
Got there and registered just in time to run the race.
Things Done Wrong:
Couldve ran faster I guess...:)
Any Other Stuff:
Glad that I ran it.
