Good Evening Incline Club!
Its time to go beyond 10,800’.... That’s right, the trails are clearing up and this week we will push higher and farther. To the Bottomless Pit and beyond!
For those who have been spending too much time training, it's time to start racing! The 33rd running of the Garden of the Gods 10 is June 14th, and there are still a few spots left! We even made it extra easy for IC’ers since the start line is right where we start our Sunday morning runs. Thursday, June 4, 5:45pm — Hydro Street
Warm up from Memorial Park in time to get to Hydro Street. Do a 30 minute tempo run up the Barr Trail. Run easy back down the Barr Trail do 6 Ruxton Ave hill repeats.
Sunday, June 7, 8:00AM — Memorial Park
Run to the end of the 1st switchback after the Bottomless Pit Sign and back via the Barr Trail.

Thursday: 60’s amd 50% sky cover. 25% chance of precip before 6pm, 10% after.
Sunday: Mid to upper 50’s at the start under partially cloudy skies. Mid 50’s when you hit Barr Camp and it should be in the upper 60’s when you finish.

Distance: 25K
Goal: 2:07

General Summary:
Course was fairly flat, very windy on the way out on both loops
Things Done Right:
Signed up for my first race of the season to convince myself to get back into Spring/Summer shape :)
Things Done Wrong:
Went out a little too fast for the windy conditions, did a hard run too close to race day so legs felt sluggish

General Summary:
50 miles of rugged trails up and over lots of New Mexico mountains. But NM mountains are weak, only topping out at 12,000 feet.
Things Done Right:
Finished.
Things Done Wrong:
Lost a contact right before the race, causing me some depth perception issues over the next 13.5 hours.
Any Other Stuff:
Very beautiful course, well worth the five hour drive from Manitou. They also have a 50K and 20K option. Several runners were greeted by a bear on the out and back to Caballo mountain.
