Xterra Nationals. I feel so much better than my expression shows.

You don't stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing!
City: Colorado Springs State: CO
Age: 64.3 years old
Marital Status: Divorced
What I do for work:
Periodically involuntarily retired. Semi-retired and loving it. Software development if they'd hire an old guy. As little as possible. Maintain my airplane. Depends on the day.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Albuquerque, Azores Islands, Washington, D.C., Claremont, California, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Fe. CS is a good place to be active as long as you don't have to drive East-West.
When I started running and what got me started:
Around 2002 to maintain my habit of mountain biking to Barr Camp in the winter I started stashing the bike at No Name (Rock) Creek and running when the trail was too snowy to ride. I discovered that trail running didn't hurt my knees an hips. I've been hooked ever since.
Running accomplishments:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
3:30 Ascent, strongest sport in qualifying for Xterra Nationals
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Everything except downhills.
Favorite running trail and why:
Barr Trail. Great scenery, technical enough, altitude, camp backup.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
PP Ascent. Long, hard, and satisfying
Best running experience:
2006 Ascent.
Worst running experience:
2005 Ascent. Started in 2nd wave and got plugged up in the slower 1st wavers at the top. Had too much left at the finish.
Running pet peeves:
Aggressive dogs. Owners who don't clean up their s@*t.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I've traveled through Latin America by land -- twice.
Other hobbies and interests:
Flying, biking and swimming for triathlons, preferably off-road Xterras.
