Family members:
My parents, Dave and Carol Barton live in Gunnison, CO and have both done the ascent. My older sister, Allison, has also done the ascent but is going to college in California, and my younger sister, Bella, is a black lab who loves to train with all of us!

What I do for work:
I am a student at Colorado College, and working on campus with the Events Staff and as a life guard.

Places I’ve called home and why I like where I am now:
I was born and raised in Gunnison, CO and moved to Colorado Springs to go to college. Gunnison was an amazing place to grow up in, but too small for me....Colorado Springs is a big city for me and actually has real shopping!

When I started running and what got me started:
I started running in elementary school with my dad who ran mile and 5K races with my sister and I. He was the one to get me started and still runs with me when we train for the ascent.

What does running mean to me:
I like running and being active so I can eat wonderful food!!!

What I like about trail/mountain running:
It's easy on my joints.

Favorite running trail and why:
The road going up Mt. Crested Butte because it has the best views on top.

Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
I've really only done Pikes Peak and the Kendall Mountain Run. It's a toss up though because the trail up Kendall Mountain is steeper but a lot shorter.

Best running experience:
Winning my one and only cross country race my sophomore year of high school.

Worst running experience:
Most likely this years ascent (2007). It was a lot harder then the past three years...I felt really sick and did the death march from Bar Camp to the top.

Neatest thing found on a run:
I'll need to think about this one more.

Running related bathroom stop story:
Nothing too exciting.

Running pet peeves:
Running out of water ahhhhhhhh.

Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I play club hockey at CC!!!

Other hobbies and interests:
hockey, swimming, beaches, cliff jumping, camping
