Love those granite chairs on Barr Trail!

“Eek Gad, y'all run UP this trail?!?!?!”

City: Colorado Springs State: CO

Favorite Shoe: Addidas Supernova Size: 8

Age: 48.8 years old

Marital Status: Married

Family members:
Just my Rat Terrier "Sweetie", oh and my husband Tony.

What I do for work:
I lost my software engineering career in Telecom. Now I am a Consultant - I teach people to tell their stories using photographs, memorabilia, words.

Places I’ve called home and why I like where I am now:
Plano, TX; Steamboat Springs, CO; Wimberley (near Austin), TX.; Luella, TX. Now, Colorado Springs, moved here for cooler weather and love all the parks. Miss Texas friendly people however.

When I started running and what got me started:
1989 I think. Started running to be healthy.

What does running mean to me:
Get most bang for buck, burn calories, sometimes get good endorphines, accomplish goals, fresh air, be one with nature, because I can run, ...

Running accomplishments:
First marathon Athen, Greece. Ironman Canada. Sunmart 50K, Bandera 25K (they were long for me!) Many triathlons.

What I like about trail/mountain running:
Love trail running, my knees and other joints love it! Love the challenge of hills, though they usually kick my butt.
When I see a LARGE hill out in a field, I always want to climb it.

Favorite running trail and why:
Don't have a favorite yet, for now, I like running around trails of Garden of Gods (especially since there are real bathrooms nearby), I love all trails I think.

Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Bandera! Kicks your butt, but the accomplishment is incredible.
(okay, so I haven't done PPM yet, but I'm in training, 2007!)

Best running experience:
Finish line of Ironman Canada.
Guess those long runs alone when you feel you can run forever.

Worst running experience:
Ironman Canada. Nutrition in Ironman is most difficult, trying to run with bloated stomach is not fun.
Also, Bandera's first year, clay mud packed on feet! Oh, and water stops 5 miles apart! talk about thirsty!

Neatest thing found on a run:
Interesting question... oh! mama, papa, and baby quail crossing the road (walking) in front of me. It was so cute! Is that considered found? hmmm.

Running related bathroom stop story:
eek gad. Again, triathlon, 1 time I peed while running, not recommended, your shoes AND orthodics will stink for rest of their lives (then the cat peed on them!).

Running pet peeves:
People not saying hi. Leaving people behind just because they stopped to go to bathroom.

Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I've done an Ironman. (started 4 finished 1 3/4), Oh, wait, that has running in it.
I finally have a mentor and it's the Dalai Lama!

Other hobbies and interests:
right now, scrapbooking, creating history, journals, both traditional photographs and digital books. And occassional triathlon for fun.

Other stuff:
I like to swim and bike, but like running, I'm not into speed.
I like to hike. Favorite movie Sound of Music, Last Samari, Notting Hill. Margaritas, red wine, dark beer, Mexican food!
Advice, one word, COMPASSION. The Dalai Lama has it right, have compassion and it will amaze you what it can do.
