“I know it's not Everest, but sometimes it sure seems like it could be. Our sport is your sport’s punishment.”

City: Peyton State: CO

Favorite Shoe: Right Size: 8.5

Age: 52.2 years old

Family members:
My two wonderful daughters Chelsea and ReBecca.

What I do for work:
Operations Coordinator in Afghanistan

Places I’ve called home and why I like where I am now:
My parents, and the Army have exposed me to Colorado, California, Kentucky, Minnesota, Germany, Maryland, and Italy. I really enjoy the Colorado Springs area because of the climate and the many activities to do outdoors.

When I started running and what got me started:
A requirement with the Army, but plan to maintain it as a lifelong health choice.

What does running mean to me:
It helps me stay healthy and relieve stress.

Running accomplishments:
2004 Colorado Springs Grand Prix of Running (Long Series) 3d place in my age group

What I like about trail/mountain running:
The scenery, the fresh air, the sense of accomplishment after completing a tough course.

Favorite running trail and why:
Barr Trail - it has every kind of terrain feature and is always a challenge to me.

Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Barr Trail Mountain Race - it's just awesome, a very well organized event, great aid stations and I have been fortunate enough to get in twice and complete it both times under the cut-off.

Best running experience:
2009 Army Ten Miler, Washington D.C. - aside from this being a great race through the nation's capitol, it was my 8th time at this event and I always have a great time seeing the sights.

Worst running experience:
1985 Fort Richardson, Alaska - it was 20 below and we were running (slipping and falling mostly) in our "banana suits" (old Army PT uniform - yellow and thin), in formation!

Neatest thing found on a run:
My car keys... in the snow!!!

Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I love to fly.

Other stuff:
Although I spend a lot of time out of Colorado and the country, my goal one day is to actually complete the Ascent!
