Marital Status: Extremely Happily Married
Family members:
Wife, son, and daughter.
What I do for work:
Space Operations
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
I like Colorado Springs because the weather is good and exercising is more consistent with good weather. Places I've called home: Virginia; Florida; Oklahoma; New Mexico; Texas; Illinois; Labrador, Newfoundland, Canada; and Kansas.
When I started running and what got me started:
I started running in the Fall of 1971 after taking the Presidential Physical Fitness Test (now the President's Challenge). The high school physical education teacher administered the test and recommended I run through the summer and join the cross country team the following year.
What does running mean to me:
Running is an integral part of my life and is my main activity for exercising and maintaining good health.
Running accomplishments:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Many ultra-distance runs, an iron-length triathlon and all other lengths, and some adventure races.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
The reduced impact to the body is most noticeable, it makes you very lean, and the serenity of all the beauty on a trail.
Favorite running trail and why:
Waldo Canyon. Good for the whole family, very close and accessible.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Barr Trail Mountain Race for shorter races is my favorite. Leadville Trail 100-mile run for longer races is my favorite. Both are two of the best supported races, making them absolutely enjoyable.
Best running experience:
Running with my wife and children.
Worst running experience:
Not finishing due to medical issue.
Neatest thing found on a run:
Friends
Running related bathroom stop story:
Found a rabbit while in the bushes on a run break. Someone left their domestic rabbit out on a country road, it became a pet.
Running pet peeves:
Dogs off a leash, the mess dogs leave, and having to run through smoke of any type.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I'm a rocket scientist, no kidding.
Other hobbies and interests:
Woodworking, playing the recorder musical instrument, bicycling (especially on tandem), swimming, computers and photography
