Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
I lived in Erie, PA for 14 years and have been in COS since 1976.
When I started running and what got me started:
I started running in college a little bit to stay in shape and decided to run in my first Ascent in 1980.
What does running mean to me:
Running allows me to think about my goals and my family. A great way to release the stresses. It sure does help to keep the pounds off too!
Running accomplishments:
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
Ascent - 1981 & 1992, and marathon's in Vancouver (CAN), Chicago and NYC.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
It is an excellent way to get variety during the run and to experience the incredible outdoors.
Favorite running trail and why:
Rampart Reservoir. I realy like running next to water, it is extremely relaxing.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Imogene Pass - Beautiful!
Best running experience:
The Vancouver marathon was the best, because there was not alot of runners, and we ran by the water alot. I felt really good and was able to glide most of the way. Met alot of great people too.
Worst running experience:
Well, I felt my worst after finishing the NYC marathon, just didn't train like I should have.
Neatest thing found on a run:
I found an old railroad spike on a run in Wyoming.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I like scary movies
Other hobbies and interests:
I spend alot of time at hockey games with our son, riding my bike, reading, and spending time with my family.
Other stuff:
I did the Ascent in my 20's, my 30's and not yet in my 40's. My goal is to do the Ascent and Marathon twice each before I am 50. I am starting to train for the Great Wall Marathon in May of 2009, and the Incline Club I believe is a great way to train for it. I like to read alot of John Maxwell's books, and like to watch Discovery Channel. I am pretty laid back and like to meet people. I am dreaming of building a large estate retreat where kids with mentall illness can come and better understand their illness and develop a purpose for their life.
